This beautiful Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, with chassis number 198.040-4500075, is one of the highly sought-after early models to have rolled off the assembly line at the Sindelfingen plant. The car was delivered in the classic exterior color Silver Gray Metallic (DB 180), originally paired with blue synthetic leather and checkered seat cushions.
It was first delivered on November 24, 1954, to New York, USA. According to the 300 SL Register, the car subsequently had two owners in California before being sold to England. There, the vehicle was registered from 2007 to 2014, after which it was acquired by HK-ENGINEERING and underwent extensive technical restoration.
According to the available photographic documentation, the 300 SL had already undergone a comprehensive restoration in the U.S. between 2000 and 2001. As part of that restoration, the car was fitted with its current red leather interior. After being acquired by HK-ENGINEERING, the 300 SL was further refined with a special focus on drivability, technology, and sporty presence. Among its coveted features are Rudge rims, front disc brakes, a sport suspension, and a complete overhaul of the rear axle and transmission. The vehicle has been in the care of HK-ENGINEERING for over ten years, has been regularly serviced, and has always been driven with care.

Today, this 300 SL presents itself with a look inspired by historic motorsports. The paint finish, in a contemporary satin gloss, evokes the brand’s successful racing era.
