The Legendary Historic Spa Six Hours 2021

After such a long time, two years, the Spa Six Hours meeting could take place this year again at the tremendous racetrack of Spa Francorchamps. For me it was the first time being back on track, taking pictures and feeling the atmosphere of historic motor racing.

The Legendary Historic Spa Six Hours 2021

The organizers of the Roadbook Company did a great job, as usual. Fabulous cars, great drivers and very thrilling races was making this first October weekend very special. It was great that most of the people were back, doing what they love to do.

Spa Six Hours 2021 – The legendary historic meeting was back again

To be honest, I was missing the historic motorsport so much, the sound, the smell, the cars and of course even my photograph colleagues. And the Spa Six Hours gave it all back, to all of us.

Yes, some grid were smaller, but this weekend was a great success.

11 race categories were announced including the name giving six hours endurance race on Saturday with very rare, loud and beautiful race cars.

Several hundred mythical cars on the most beautiful circuit in the world

MIS5122The Spa Six Hours is one of the most prestigious meeting in continental Europe with several hundred historic racing cars that compete on the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit. A real 3-day spectacle with dynamic races.

If you want to dream, remember, discover or admire… the Spa Six Hours meeting offers you a unique and renowned show that attracts thousands of spectators every year.

Mythical machines, which continue to make all generations dream, such as the prestigious Ford GT40, Jaguar E-Type, AC Cobra, Chevron B8, Brabham, Lola T70, several Lotus Formula Junior and F1, will plunge everyone into the atmosphere of the post-war years.

The grids included old Touring cars, Grand Touring cars, Prototypes and Single-seaters from the 60s, 70s and 80s as well as a series of pre-war sports cars.

MIS1142Of course the highlight of the weekend is the endurance race which took place on Saturday 2nd, from 4 pm to 10 pm under the label of “Spa Six Hours Endurance Race”. Exceptional cars and equally exceptional drivers are the heart of this competition ,which was starting at the end of the afternoon and ends at nightfall, with the light of a hundred long-range headlights piercing the Ardennes night and giving an unreal aspect to the event.

The winning team of this long distance race after 6:00:02.948h, 114 laps and an average speed of 133,0 km/h was C.Bryant and J.Cottingham with their wonderful blue Ford GT40 with the number 21. They have raced one lap more than the second Ford GT40 with C.Davies, A Newall and M.Jordan in their red car with the number 7.

Also a great experience were the races of the Masters Endurance Legends with Peugeot 908, BR1, Lola-Jod B12, Pescarolo LMP1, Ligier JS P3, Lola Aston DBR 1-2. LMP1, LMP2 and GT PRO race cars of the Le Mans series. They were the fastest on the circuit with a best qualifying time of 2:10.505m set by C.D’Ansembourg with his Lola Aston Martin DBR1-2 with the starting number 008.
