1959 Jaguar XK150 3.8S OTS

By all standards, a Jaguar XK150 is a fairly common car, which you can find fairly easily. A Jaguar XK150 OTS in very original condition will prove a lot more difficult and a Jaguar XK150 3.8 S OTS from the last series will prove almost impossible. That’s because only 14 pieces were made in total. Most of those 14 cars are included in collections and hardly see daylight, let alone a showroom.

For a Jaguar connoisseur this is by far the most desirable XK150 and in terms of rarity is almost on the same level as the E-Type Lightweight of which only 13 units were made in total. This car is most likely the first in the series of just 14 left-hand drive XK150 3.8S OTS cars. The car was built in November 1959 and delivered in Germany by Jaguar importer Fendler & Luedemann in Hamburg.

The car was then in the possession of a doctor in Strasbourg for a long time, who mainly cherished and cared for the car. What is striking is that the car has never been taken apart and has only been repainted once in its original color. The car is therefore guaranteed to have a damage-free past and is still in extremely original condition. The car was then bought by a Danish Jaguar enthusiast in 2005. He was the penultimate owner and kept the car until the beginning of this year. The car won several competitions during this period and was regularly used for large multi-day Jaguar rallies.

When you look at the car you not only see a beautiful Cream-colored Jaguar XK150 OTS, but you also immediately see that this is an extremely original car. The age-old adage: “A car is only original once” is again completely true here. The body and chassis therefore excel in originality. It has been a long time since Gallery Aaldering have seen such an original Jaguar XK150 and certainly a few decades since they came across such an original example in the good condition shown here. The paint has therefore been repainted once in the original colour.

This work was done well and the car looks beautiful. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The car stands on the original wire wheels fitted with good Michelin tires in the correct sizes. The car is also equipped with the then optional spotlights with yellow lenses. The convertible top is in good condition and fits neatly everywhere. The original tonneau cover is also present and has a beautiful patina.

When you look under the hood, it is noticeable that the car still has original nameplates and the German delivery plate is still present. Furthermore, all stamped numbers are present, such as the body number, the chassis number and the numbers on the block and cylinder head. Everything underlines the originality of the car. In addition, the original tool set is also present with the car and the car will be delivered including a complete set of keys.

The interior shows an equally beautiful picture. The leather upholstery and the carpets are completely original and look beautiful. It doesn’t matter what you have done, this cannot be imitated, this is pure use and time: beautiful! The fact that the interior is original and old does not mean that it does not look good or that it is worn, the opposite is true. The leather has of course significant traces of use, but is still very supple and fits well. The carpets are neatly cared for and the dashboard also looks beautiful. The instruments and controls are all original and also look very good. The counters also function fully as they should, of course. The wooden steering wheel has been retrofitted and looks good.

The technology has been very well cared for over the years. The counter shows 46,481 kilometers, in all probability the total mileage is only 146,481 kilometers. The engine runs beautifully. Thanks to the three carburettors, the engine produces 265 hp and the Jaguar XK150 is still a very fast car even by today’s standards. The suction sound is fantastic and the running of the engine can only be described as extremely smooth.

The beautiful sound can be heard not only through the three carburettors but also through the period correct Abarth exhaust. The exhaust is mounted immediately upon delivery and gives the car a beautiful soundtrack. The transmission has fine gear ratios and shifts tight. Because this is one of the last Jaguar XK150s, the car is equipped with Dunlop disc brakes all around, which not only provide much more deceleration, but are also very easy to dose.

The front wheel suspension is independent and the suspension at the rear consists of a rigid axle, the XK150 was therefore already praised at the time for its good road holding and is still a very nice driving car by today’s standards.

The car is well documented. There are photos of the car from the past, a FIVA pass, and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate that endorses the originality and general information about the car.

Gallery Aaldering is a family owned business since 1975. Founder Nico Aaldering and his son Nick are responsible for operational and executive management. The company has been in Brummen since 1987 and started on the location where they currently have their second workshop and detailing shop. Nico started very small, with only three employees. People who still work for the company today. The company grew rapidly and established a name for itself based on quality. In the nineties it was time for expansions after many years of selling Alfa Romeo, then Italian cars later on followed by British cars as well. At the end of 2000 Gallery Aaldering moved to the current premises at the Arnhemsestraat in Brummen. This showroom was build according to Nico's idea and sketches and has a Neoclassical style to match the classic cars inside. During this time Nick entered the company after finishing his studies and working for different automotive companies. Gallery Aaldering expanded and gained momentum with the decades of experience offered by Nico and the bright new ideas and progressive vision offered by Nick. The collection became more diverse with an important move upwards to higher segments. Gallery Aaldering has grown to become one of the largest classic car dealers in Europe. There are about 350 classic cars on display on four floors with a Grand Café and special rooms for business meetings. As a family owned business Gallery Aaldering is proud of its history and traditions, but the future is just as important. At the heart of this all is the passion for classic automobiles. For that reason they participate in the most impressive classic car rally in the world, the Mille Miglia. A deeply rooted love for cars. You will find this in both their genes and the identity of this family owned business.
