The Goodwood Revival presents a feast for all the senses and is rightly famous for the 3 days of on and off track action that occurs in and around the motor circuit.

For my family the activities traditionally kick off the day before with an afternoon watching cricket, an evening dinner and entertainment at the Aero Club and hair raising rides at the “Over the Road’ funfair.
The pitch in Front of Goodwood House has been played on since 1702 and arguably lays claim to be the historic home of club cricket. The pre race match is contested by teams representing the motoring world and while the players are unlikely to be picked for the England team they show a degree of competitiveness and enthusiasm that provide good entertainment. This year there was some high scoring which suggests a greater ability to hit balls than throw them.

Following on from that is a is an event focussing on the long and glorious history of the March family with the world of aeroplanes. This provides an excellent dinner and an array of static historic planes on the ground and in the air. Highlight of this was undoubtedly an aerial display of wing walking acrobatics.

As the sun sets the planes rest.

A quick walk through the paddock allows a first glimpse of the race cars waiting for tomorrow’s on track exertions. This takes us to the “Over the Road” funfair where the thrills of the various rides can be enjoyed.

Followed by a restful night before the “Main Course” commences on track on Friday Morning.
