Alfa Romeo Certificate of Origin shows the date of production as June 27, 1967. Delivery as a USA model to a distributor in Newark, New Jersey then off to a life in California with a series of owners. A California car still with its old black 1960s California license plates.
Fully restored by Carlo Cesterolo of the Alfa Romeo Center in San Francisco, Calif. A bare shell, bare metal complete body and paint redo to the highest level. A full mechanical rebuild of engine, transmission, rear axle and suspension. All exterior and interior bright work and chrome plus wiring and instruments. Additional mechanical work done by Alfa Romeo expert John Wakamatsu in Gardena, Calif. The final $15,000 of work completed by Grand Prix Classics. This restoration was finished in 2017.
Only 5,961 left-hand drive Weber carbureted Duetto Spiders were produced between 1966-67. These cars were the best performing (pre-EPA restrictions), best looking (pre-DOT regulations) of the Alfa Romeo Spider series.
To restore the Duetto to this level took an investment well in excess of $90,000. It is now one of the best Duettos anywhere.
