Produced by Rootes Manufacturing Group of England, the Sunbeam Alpine was popular throughout the early 1960s. Sunbeam turned to Carroll Shelby to do to the Sunbeam what he accomplished with the Cobra. The Shelby fabricators fit a small block Ford V8, mated to a 4-speed “top loader” transmission and converted it to rack and pinion steering. Production of the Tiger began, providing consumers with a good performing, pleasant little sports car.
