A comprehensive multi-year bare shell mechanical and cosmetic restoration was conducted by Cobra-AC expert Bill Murray of the Shelby American Collection Museum in Boulder, Colorado; after completion, the AC Bristol Roadster was put on display in the museum for 9 years. Award winner at the Carmel Concours in 2012. The car has resided in California since 2010.
Factory records show BEX1044 being dispatched from AC Cars on February 27th, 1959 with engine number 923, which it still has today. It was delivered with unique competition features such as stiffer springs, dual coils, oil cooler, and is also equipped with the rare factory curved windshield. The first owner is a Mr. Henry Black of Wilmette, Illinois, who had success racing the car from 1959-1962. There are a total of 10 known owners from new. Once owned by AC expert Ron Leonard.
